Library Services

Circulation of books

Regular circulation of books is provided for classes VI and above. Generally the circulation is done during the library periods, but in order to encourage better and more utilization of library resources the circulation is done on free periods of the library.

Library Periods

One library period is there for every class starting from VI to XII . During library periods students can issue and return the books. The students are encouraged to maintain their reading lists and to submit book reviews of the books they have read.

Class Libraries

Class libraries are functioning from I to V. The teachers in charges of the respective classes select books from the library according to the academic standard and reading habit of the students. About 50 books are provided for each class and the teacher concerned will distribute the books to the students during library periods. The books can be changed from the main library from time to time.

Notice/Bulletin Boards

A Bulletin board is displayed in the library provide information and instructions.

New Arrivals

The new arrivals list is displayed in the notice board. The new books are also displayed on New Additions display rack. The book jackets are also prominently displayed in the library.

Book Reviews

Good book reviews by the students are displayed. It gives a chance to the readers to understand the books.

Career/Higher Education Alerts

A section of the notice board is utilised for alerts on higher education and career. Information brochures of various academic institutions, advertisements etc are displayed here.

Article Alert

A list of new articles appeared in the magazines/periodicals and which are relevant to the students are displayed to promote the reading by students.

Reference Services

There is a good collection of reference books in the library in different subject areas. These books are not issued and allowed to read only in the library.

Quiz Club

The library organises the regular quizes for the Quiz Club members.

Book Exhibitions

Book Exhibitions with cooperation from the difference publishers/sellers are organised every year.

Competitions

To promote reading habit and library use, competitions such as surprise library quiz, book quiz, reading sessions, designing of book jackets, etc are being organised regularly.


LIBRARY RULES & REGULATION


1. All students and staff of the school are members of the library.
2. A student can borrow only two books at a time for a period of two weeks.
3. A staff member can borrow maximum five books at a time for a period of one month.
4. Books will be issued to the students, during the library periods. No book will be issued or returned during the teaching hours.
5. Marking, underlining or writing on library books, periodicals, and newspapers is strictly forbidden.
6. Reference books and current periodicals will not be issued to any member. These can be consulted only in the library.
7. If the books are not returned within the specified time it will be viewed seriously and fine will be charged as per rules.
8. The librarian may call for a book at any time, even if the normal period of loan has not expired.
9. In case of book is misused, wrongly handled or lost the person concerned will have to replace the book or pay the current market price of the book.
10. After reading, make sure that the books, periodicals and newspapers are kept back at their respective places.
11. The members should take good care of library furnishings and equipment. Make sure the library looks as good when you leave as it did when you came in.
12. Drink and food are not allowed in the Library.
13. Library computers are for academic purpose only. Do not tamper with the computer settings. Follow the internet safety guidelines.
14. A ‘No Dues Certificate’ by each student is to be obtained from the librarian while his/her transfer/withdrawal from the school.
15. Strict order and silence shall be maintained in the library and speak softly if needed.
The library should adopt a set of rules for its proper functioning.
